A serial killer is on the loose!! Corpses of young women are being left suspended from high structures all over town. Close friends and former co-workers with the National Police Department, Kaname Otonashi & Yasuhide (a.k.a. Hide) Nagatsuma have teamed up once again. They’ll utilize Kaname’s unique sense of sound and both of theirs superior investigative skills to solve the current case.

Nearly half the population of Sakurada, a small town near the Pacific Ocean, has some sort of unique power. These powers range from being able to enter the mind of a cat to resetting the world back to a certain point in time in the past. There is a group known as the "Kanrikyoku" that controls and monitors the use of these powers. Asai Kei and Haruki Misora work for their school's club called "Houshi" club, which execute any missions received from the Kanrikyoku. Misora has the ability to reset the world three days. This means that all events and any memory of the past three days that "could have" happened, never happened. Kei has the ability to "remember" the past. Even after Misora uses her powers to reset the world back three days, Kei will retain those three days in his memory. Combining their powers, these two solve missions issued by the Kanrikyoku.

Their memories are erased, their personalities are replaced, and they are sent back to their original life as a new person. With this process, there is an extremely low rate of repeat offenders. Kou has just gone home to his big sister after receiving his punishment for committing murder. He has a little notebook to use in the absence of his memory, which details his life and relationships. However, his friends at school seem to doubt that he's actually the perpetrator. Will Kou be able to uncover the truth behind the murder he is believed to have committed? With no knowledge of his previous life, how can he tell who to trust?
