  • Seizon - Life

    From Kotonoha:
Takeda is diagnosed with cancer and feels that he has nothing to live for. His wife also had had cancer, had died of it in fact, and his only daughter has been missing for fourteen years.

One day, when he is about to attempt suicide, the phone rings. It’s the police, and they inform him that the dead body of his long lost daughter has been found, that it appears to have been a homicide. Takeda is crushed but resolves then and there to spend the remaining days of his life hunting down his daughter’s killer.

The time left for Takeda to live equals the time left to put the murderer behind bars. Life is a heart-wrenching story about a father’s willpower and his search for the truth.

  • Mangaka Chou Zankoku Monogatari

    From Mangascreener:
Nawoki Karasawa is one of the longer-active and more prestigious names in the typically small time, lesser-known world of gag manga. In a genre where art skill is second to just about everything else, Karasawa's dialogue is hilariously sharp and witty.

A gag parody of Shinji Mizushima's immortal "Mangaka Zankoku Monogatari" (Karasawa's title only differs by adding "cho" [super] to "zankoku"), a manga about the dreams, ambitions and suffering of a group of bright young mangaka, Karasawa brilliantly takes the piss out of just about everything involved with being a mangaka. It's lewd, raunchy, endlessly cynical and laugh-out-loud funny.

Originally published in Ikki and the Big Comic Spirits special issue "Casual" from 2000 to 2003, it was collected into a single book in 2005.

  • Osen

The story is set in modern day downtown Tokyo. Our heroine Handa Sen, known as “Osen,” is the star hostess of the longstanding Isho-an, everyone’s favorite restaurant in the town of Kasagi-no-yado. Osen not only loves sake and looks sexy in kimono, but she’s also a “jill” of all trades: She’s a master chef, entertainer and potter, as well as an art connoisseur. The comic is about how Osen settles all the happenings surrounding Isho-an. Sometimes she resolves them with the Japanese spirit of “wa,” or by just being plain logical.

The artist’s delicate depiction of our heroine Osen in kimono, various craft including pottery and food is a highlight of this manga. –Kodanclub.com

This experiment, in attempting to open one of the eleven dimensions in our reality, the sixth dimension (Secht), resulted in a catastrophic explosion that killed 110 million people and left 12 countries in ruins. The originator of this experiment, Himeka Yuki, bearing the total responsibility for the failure of this experiment, has been banished from reality for eternity. In response to this event, the world leaders in sciences formed a monitoring agency known as "Zeien" to keep control of all scientists and technology in order to prevent another Sixth Dimension Experiment.
